The Drive – 5/27/16 – Friday’s episode of The Drive hears D-Mac joined by Chad Brown to talk about Chad’s pursuit of a football coaching career. They discuss the Rockies’ pitching performance and if there is any reason to be optimistic about it. They talk about the Broncos’ OTA’s and which free agents make the most sense for the Broncos to target. They are joined by Joey Chestnut, who will be competing in World Burrito Eating Championship along with Big Sexy, and try to get the two to talk some trash.

The Drive kicks off with D-Mac joined by Chad Brown filling in for Big Al and the topic to start the show is Chad taking the first steps to pursuing a coaching career. This leads to conversation on the differences in responsibilities faced by coaches compared to players.

For the Big Three at 3:30 the fellas highlight game six between the Golden State Warriors and OKC Thunder, the Broncos being listed as the 4th most talented team in the NFL, whether or not the Broncos should target Knowson Moreno, and if they think players are able to respect overweight coaches.

The guys close the hour with D-Mac boasting about his predictions for the Rockies’ game last night coming mostly true. This leads to some closing discussion about the Rockies’ pitching staff and argue if there is reason to be optimistic.

The fellas move on to Football at Four where they go over the top rated remaining free agents and discuss which names make the most intriguing targets for the Broncos. A few name they bring up are Dwight Freeney, Anquan Boldin, Arian Foster, and Knowshon Moreno.

Halfway through the hour the big news is Big Sexy’s participation in the World Burrito Eating Championship tomorrow, where he’ll be competing with Joey Chestnut to see who can smash the most burritos.

Joey Chestnut joins the show to talk about the burrito eating championship, and they ask him what separates a “big eater’ from a true championship competitor. They pry about his loss in the hotdog eating contest last year, and he explains how it shaped his hunger to win going forward. Listen to our conversation with Joey HERE!

At the top of the final hour of the show the topic is the Stanley Cup playoffs, and the guys discuss why Hockey is not as popular as other sports. This leads to some conversation on what the NHL could do to build more hype for the Stanley Cup finals. They compare the NHL to the NBA and point to what aspects of the NBA makes it’s games more nationally popular. The conversation then carries over to what time of year the Cup could be moved to in order to generate more views from sports fans.

For the Closing Bell, D-Mac has Lebron James Trending up as he has only lost one time up 3-2 in game six, and Chad Brown has the Golden State Warriors trending up, predicting them to come back and beat OKC to advance to the NBA Finals. Trending down for D-mac is Rob Ryan, who blamed his firing from the Saints on the scheme, and the Toronto Raptors for Chad, as he predicts them to be eliminated from the playoffs in game six.

The topic to close the show is Warren Sapp, who reacted negatively to Timmy Jernigan changing his number to 99 in tribute to Sapp.
