Jerry began playing golf at the age of 8. Although technology has improved significantly over the years, his game, remarkably, has remained stagnant. Walters is a member of the Golf Writer's Association of America and the Rocky Mountain Golf Writer's Association.
Jerry's full-time endeavor is the tour representative for Yes! Golf, manufacturers of the popular C-Groove putter. He works with players on both the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. Aside from that, he writes for Colorado AvidGolfer magazine and has been a course-rating panelist for Golf Digest magazine.
Walters' highest achievements have been when he was recognized as the Media Person of the Year for both the Colorado Golf Association (2001) and the Colorado Section of the PGA (2003). He has been in the golf media since 1993, hosting golf talk shows at other stations and co-hosting a television show on a local cable network. When asked what his long-term goals were, his reply was "to have a sandwich named after him and to get in as many comped rounds of golf as possible." Lofty.
Work limits the amount of golf Walters plays, but he states that "his job allows him to be ‘inside the ropes' with the greatest players on the planet." Being with the PGA Tour allows him to obtain phone numbers from players and caddies for future show appearances. "Shoot, don't tell anyone, but I'd travel with the tour for FREE, or better yet, I'd pay Yes! Golf to let me do it."
