Maybe McDaniels Isn't the Devil

I know that Josh McDaniels' name is mud around here. I know many of you blame all of the Broncos' ills on him. However, does he deserve SOME credit?

Think about it. Many of you believe Tim Tebow is "The Guy" to lead the Broncos back to glory- he's a Josh guy. Tebow's favorite target and a big reason the Broncos felt comfortable about dealing Brandon Lloyd is Eric Decker, who could be the second coming of Ed McCaffery- he's a Josh guy.

The offensive line which has put up one of the best four game rushing totals in Broncos history features Zane Beadles and JD Walton- two Josh guys......and Chris Kuper, who McDaniels signed to a controversial (at the time) long term contract extension.

He also brought in Lance Ball. He resusciated Brandon Lloyd's career that allowed the Broncos to get a much needed draft pick in return.

John Fox is Owed an Apology

In the aftermath of the Broncos' satisfying team win over the hated Raid-uhs, a lot of well deserving "game balls" have been handed out from Willis McGahee, to Tim Tebow, to Champ Bailey and on and on. But lets make sure we also hand out a pair to John Fox and Mike McCoy. These two coaches have been lambasted by Bronco fans, and especially Tebow fans, for their game plans and play calling.

I hope those Tebow supporters praise Fox and McCoy today. They put together a terrific game plan. They implemented that single wing/run spread option for Tebow, something he was comfortable with from his Florida days. The commitment to the running game was there. Remember, when Tebow attempted and completed his last pass of the game it was mid-way through the third quarter, the Broncos were down 24-14. He did not throw a pass the rest of the ...

Is It About the Wins and Losses?

Posted 10/26/2011 12:28:00 PM

Some listeners got mad at me on Sunday following the Broncos/Fish game while I was hosting "Broncos Reax." They were distressed because I was critiquing Tim Tebow's play through the first three and a half quarters. Their point was, it's a win, an exciting win, and that's all that matters.

So my question is: Are we just judging Tebow by wins and losses?

I must admit to being confused. The argument I heard the most for switching from Orton to Tebow was "the season isn't going anywhere, you might as well find out what you've got in Tebow."

I was OK with that. I was OK with it not being about wins and losses, just evaluating his play. So are we doing it differently now? Do we measure him based on wins and losses? Have the rules changed?

I don't believe this is a good football team. I'm not concerned ...

B-Lloyd Deal Doesn't Make Sense

Don't get the Brandon Lloyd deal on many levels. I get that he wasn't in your plans for next year, and, truth be told, I wouldn't sign him long term either. When it comes to rebuilding a football team with as many holes as the Broncos, wide receiver is waaaaay down on the list of positions I look to fill.

But my beef is with taking B-Lloyd away from this year's team. He's only making about 900,000$ the rest of the season which is relative chump change by NFL standards. He is the best offensive player on this team. When I heard the argument made for playing Tim Tebow, I often heard the following: "He's exciting. He's entertaining." Doesn't that describe some of Lloyd's traits?

Speaking of Tebow, I don't know any other way to read into it, but, when Lloyd tells us part of the reason he wanted out ...

Nothing wrong with Hope

There will be plenty of time over the next eleven games to really get down and dirty and evaluate Tim Tebow's performance. But, let today be about hope and optimism.

I've said it a lot, say it again, one thing fans need above everything else is hope. Today, Bronco fans have it. At least for one day, Broncos fans showed they are smarter then John Elway, John Fox and Brian Xanders. Tebow was everything Bronco fans insisted he would be.

-He was exciting.....He was a gamer.....He made something out of nothing.....He was unconventional but effective.....He was a leader......His enthusiasm was contagious....

Broncos fans today have hope. Good for them! Now we watch and see over the next eleven games to see if that hope is going to be here for the next decade or will it turn out to be just a blip.
