I'm Darren McKee, but everybody calls me D-Mac. Grew up near Boston (Ipswich) except for one year in Steamboat. Skied a ton, but the rentals couldn't cash so moved back to Beantown. College at Syracuse. Got kicked out of the broadcasting school, but pulled a 2.3 to the finish line. DRINK UP!!! Radio in 'Cuse, Buffalo and DC before landing in Denver in '99. Crushed it at 'BPI for 5 and change and then Willie B became my boss and fired me (tool). Landed in the Springs for the M-F thang and now STOKED to be on the FAN. Got hitched to the college girl (Kim - 20 yrs - serious!) and squirted out two boys Connor 8 (Hockey, soccer, running, 14er climber, baseball) and Dylan 6 (soccer and wrestling - if your kid is under 6 and weighs less than 36 pounds, my kid will kick his ass! Go Wolves). Ran 6 marathons, but now I'm fat. Play baseball, but now bat 9th. Still a pretty good skier. Maybe I should stick to snow. LOVE all sports, but then again I'll watch anything to avoid doing housework (sorry honey, Vietnamese sport juggling is on Altitude - I'll get the garbage later) |

What’s good FM 104.3 “The FAN” listeners?
Oren Lomena of “The Night Guys” with D-MAC and Oren here to tell ya a lil’ bout myself…. It will most assuredly be rich and compelling.
First of all I am living the American dream. The hometown kid makes good type of story. Born and raised in Denver (original Montebello resident… OMR for short)... I’m a proud graduated of “the” Montebello high school and will forever be a warrior until the day I am no more!
I spent two years in Grand Junction partying at… (excuse me)… attending mesa state college before leaving the western slope for the more familiar streets of Denver… aka I dropped out. After years of “figuring out what I would do with my life” I decided to chase my dream of getting into the sports entertainment biz. So I took a shot and enrolled at the Ohio center for broadcasting...
Six years later and here we are. Six calendars into my tenure with FSN rocky mountain… two and a half of which have been spent on air. What began as a co-host’s role on raw sports has since become a dump truck full of blessings… from hosting raw full time, to chillin’ with my homegirl Alanna Rizzo for Rockies all access… and every point in between… I truly feel blessed when I think about how things have gone thus far in my television career.
But I’m a sports talk radio junky… and what began as a passion (putting in my two cents on any and every conversation on sports talk radio both local and national) has now become a paid gig! And hopefully this is only the beginning.
Oh yeah… I like long walks in the park, a nice glass of scotch and my friend Baxter here!
Holla at a turf scholar! |
